Double parking has become so common in Malaysia that it seems like nothing can be done to stop it. Kishore reached out to WORLD OF BUZZ recently to share about an incident that happened to him when he parked his car at a parking lot in Ampang Jaya.
After attending a course nearby, he returned to his car around 4:20 pm, only to find that his car was blocked in by, not 1, but 2 other cars which had double-parked in front and also beside his car.
The drivers didn’t leave their numbers
Typically, when someone double parks, they’ll either leave a contact number so they can be reached to move their car, or at the very least, leave the handbrake down so the car can be pushed out of the way.
Unfortunately for Kishore, neither of these common courtesies were done. He was stuck waiting, unable to move his car, and had to seek help from security.
“I tried talking through the intercom at the toll gate, but they said they couldn’t assist. There wasn’t even any security in the parking lot to help. I contacted the Municipal Council to request a tow truck, but they told me they don’t send tow trucks after 5 pm, so there was no way to move the cars,” he explained.
Kishore shared how he waited for 2 hours, eventually calling the police for assistance, only to be told that they couldn’t do anything to help him either.
They had to physically carry the car out of the way
Desperate, he reached out to his friends, hoping they could help physically move the Perodua Axia which was in front of his car, but initially weren’t able to.
“Finally, at 6:25 pm, my friends and I managed to lift the back of the Axia that was in front of my car. We moved it to an angle to create space for my car to get out.”
He left notes for both drivers
Kishore voiced his frustration, leaving notes on both cars after being forced to wait over 2 hours before figuring out how to free his vehicle on his own.
“We need to bring this issue to the public’s attention because it’s becoming a huge problem in Malaysia. People are double parking without thinking these days.”
