The 15th General Election has brought about plenty of surprises and shocks. One of the most surprising news was the fact that Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional were willing to work together in order to form the new government.

Despite the fact that everything seems to have already been resolved, there are always worries of the repeat of yet another ‘Sheraton Move’ as parties and coalitions might do whatever it takes in order to claim power.

Just yesterday (November 25), UMNO vice president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri was spotted meeting up with BN and PAS members at the Tropicana Golf & Country Resort.

Images of the incident went viral on social media which prompted netizens to accuse the former prime minister of plotting a repeat of the infamous ‘Sheraton Move’.

The list of MPs who were present allegedly included former UMNO secretary-general Annuar Musa, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, MCA president Wee Ka Siong and Annuar’s press secretary Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz amongst others.

Despite the speculations, Ismail Sabri has since denied the rumours and told the public not to make false allegations.

Explaining the matter, Ismail Sabri described all his actions as being misinterpreted, and wondered why he is considered a traitor if he meets a friend from PAS while those who meet with the leadership from PH are considered heroes.

“It is not true (the meeting). Where is there a meeting involving 10 people? Look at the list of names, only 5 people. These are all malicious slanders to ruin my name.”

“I can’t even see my friends now. Meeting PAS friends (and I’m considered) to be a traitor. Everyone is crazy,” he said.

Meanwhile, both Wee and Annuar have denied the meeting.

Wee

Wee explained that he only went to the location to have a meal with his friend and that he had bumped into Ismail Sabri who was having breakfast alone. He labelled those who had taken and circulated the pictures as paparazzi.

On the other hand, Annuar Musa said that he was there just to play golf.

It is never okay to cause speculation and accuse others of having a malicious intent.
