M’sians Are Sharing How Being Infected With Covid-19 is Extremely Costly

The Covid-19 virus has resulted in the losses of the livelihoods of many Malaysians and to make matters worse, the items of necessity which you need after being infected with the virus can add up to a hefty amount.

Recently, a Malaysian named Nurasyiqin took to Twitter to highlight how getting Covid is extremely costly.

“I haven’t properly calculated the amount, but we spent a lot on medicine, lozenges, test kits, supplements etc,” she stated.

 

“Some families might have to prioritise the money for food and just wait till the dreadful symptoms subsides,” she added.

“I can’t help but to think about how costly this pandemic is to small families.”

 

M’sians share how much Covid-19 has costed them

Her tweet went viral and currently sits on over 4,924 likes and 4,832 shares. Plenty of Malaysians commented how costly being infected with Covid-19 is.

Many ended up spending thousands on supplies after their entire household were all infected with the virus.

A couple of users shared how much they spent on Covid-19 tests alone. “Last year I spent RM1,300 on PCR tests in January alone,” said a user.

Meanwhile, some users highlighted that when you’re infected with Covid, you’d have to get all of your food and groceries delivered, which can be extremely costly.

“No taste and smell so cannot cook. Food had to be ordered in. Cost of groceries increased due to everything needing to be delivered,” said one user.
