Do you remember Soh Wai Ching, the Malaysian world no.1 tower runner who ran up Menara KBS with Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh?
On a mission to hold his world no.1 position for 10 years, Wai Ching emerged as champion again at a stair-climbing event, Scale the Strat held at the STRAT Hotel, Las Vegas, US.
Running up 108 floors with 1455 steps and an elevation of 260m, this is Wai Ching’s second consecutive win at the race as he claimed the title of Overall Champion late last night.
During the race, he recorded a time of 6:46 min, beating his personal record of 6:57 min at last year’s event and equaling Mexico’s Alexis Trujillo’s record set in 2020.
Coming in second and third in the race were two host athletes, Mark Ewell who finished the run in 8:42s and Mark Henderson with a time of 8:54s.
“I will be back next year to aim for a sub 6:30 minutes!” said Wai Ching through a post on his Facebook page.
Congratulations Wai Ching! Malaysians are rooting for you!
