A woman was robbed by a man who asked her out for dinner in Petaling Jaya on 15 February. According to Harian Metro, the woman had just met the man on social media.
During the incident at 5,45pm, Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the 39-year-old man had forced the woman to hand over her gold bracelet before leaving her in front of a convenience store in Section 13.
After durther investigation, the police raided a house at Taman Impian Ehsan, Seri Kembangan, at 11.10pm the same day and arrested the suspect.
“Police also confiscated a Perodua Bezza car used by the suspect during the robbery, two mobile phones, RM2,900 in cash, which the suspect obtained by selling the victim’s gold bracelet, and a watch.”
“A check found that the suspect had seven criminal records including a drug case,” he said, adding that the suspect admitted to selling the gold bracelet to a man in Kuala Lumpur for RM2,900.
The suspect also admitted to being involved in five other cases of robbery, theft, extortion, obscenity, and criminal intimidation in the Klang Valley.
Meanwhile, the suspect has been remanded for three days and the case is being investigated according to Section 392 of the Penal Code, which states,
“Whoever commits robbery shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 14 years, and shall also be liable to a fine or to whipping.”
