Just because a woman consents to sexual relations with one guy doesn’t mean she wouldn’t mind doing it with your friends. If she isn’t conscious enough to give her consent, it means no, get it? That’s what happened to a Malaysian woman who got gang-raped by three British citizens of Vietnamese descent.

The 23-year-old victim said that she met a friend of the three suspects, Ahn Viet Trinh, also known as Richard, at Zouk Club in Singapore on September 10 last year. Ahn was there with his three friends, Tam Thanh Khong, 22, Michael Le and Vu Thai Son, both 24, for the music festival Ultra Singapore.
The victim, who worked as a marketing and corporate communications officer in Malaysia, had struck up a conversation with them on that fateful night. After chatting for some time, she asked Ahn to bring her back to his room in Carlton Hotel.

According to Straits Times, the woman was drunk by that time but she agreed to consensual sex with Ahn at around 2.30am and fell asleep in his arms after that. However, Ahn slipped out of the bed and allowed his friend, Khong to enter the room at around 4am. He left the room while Khong allegedly raped the woman, who was asleep.
Just like clockwork, Vu entered the room after that at bout 4.25am to take his turn in raping the woman. Both he and Khong had reportedly forcibly penetrated her with their fingers. After Vu left the room at 4.50am, it appeared to be Le’s turn, as he went into the room within the minute and quickly undressed so that he could also force himself on the unsuspecting victim. Sounds like they are very familiar with this routine!

However, halfway through the raping, the victim woke up and was shocked to see it was not Ahn by her side. She confronted him and a verbal row ensued, which caused Le to leave the room by 5.05am. Not long after that, Ahn came back to the room and the angry woman accused him of being involved in the incident.
Ahn denied all knowledge of what had happened and she left the hotel room at 6.30am. She made a police report and all four of them were detained for investigation. Ahn was discovered to have illegally left the jurisdiction even though his passport was impounded by the police.

The trial reportedly continued on August 1 as the prosecution presents evidence such as CCTV footage from Carlton Hotel that depicts the three suspects entering and leaving the room where the alleged rape happened. In addition, messages found on Le’s mobile phone where he boasted about having sex with the victim will also be part of the evidence.
FYI, it is rape if she didn’t give her consent.
