Malaysian social activist Abbe Hae has stepped in to help a woman and her two young children after they were evicted from their rented home and left stranded on the streets.

Taking to Facebook, Abbe shared that the family had been forced out after the woman’s husband, whom she depended on, relapsed and became involved with drugs again.

The woman and her children were left wandering aimlessly with their packed bags until they arrived at the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) building.

Feeling sorry for them, an MPAJ staff member later gave the woman RM100 for daily expenses and advised her to go to Masjid Al Pandan Indah.

When they arrived at the mosque, the mother was assisted by the mosque management and temporarily placed in a welfare room while further aid arrangements were being made.

“This mother and her two young children were evicted from the house they were renting after she could no longer afford the rent, as the husband she depended on had become involved with drugs again,” Abbe wrote.

According to Abbe, the mother and her two children have now been placed in Abbe’s transit shelter while arrangements are being made for housing assistance and zakat aid for the struggling family.

“Another family of three has been rescued. Millions of thanks to the management of Masjid Al Azim Pandan Indah for being so caring towards those in need. This is truly an example that other mosques should follow,” he added.
