If you’re eating out, chances are you’ll be exposed to all kinds of behaviours from the public. While some of us may be fine with them, others may not be able to tolerate them, such as noises.
Just recently, a Malaysian TikToker shared what she thinks you should do if you can’t stand the noise from the children who scream or cry.
Simply take away your food and eat in the comfort of your own house.
In her 1-minute TikTok clip, the TikToker is in the car with her children. While they were waiting for others to finish their food at the nearby restaurant, she had a message to all those annoyed public who find it tough to tolerate the sound of crying children.
“Please, you don’t need to stare at us. If you really hate the noise, can you just eat at home?”
She defended her children by saying it’s common for toddlers and young kids to walk around when they’re done eating as they have nothing to do. She then continued and ranted about the people who stared and her and her children when one of them started crying.
“If you really don’t like it, can you just have your food to go, and continue eating at home? There’s really no need to stare at us,” she expressed.
In the comment section, the TikToker clarified that if one of her children started crying, she would bring them out of the restaurant to calm them down.
“Why don’t you do that?”
It didn’t take long for her clip to go viral on social media, and many Malaysians have since criticised her for saying that the public should eat at home if they cannot tolerate crying children.
“I cover my ears even when I’m irritated by the motorcycle’s noise, let alone the sound of crying children.”
“Why not those with kids just eat at home instead?”
“Why not take away your food and eat at home when your children start to make noise? At least they can play outside the house when they’re done.”
Another netizen said that she would immediately bring her kid out if he/she starts crying to avoid irritating other customers. The TikToker responds and clarified that she does the same thing.
“So, you mean those who are irritated with the children’s noises on the plane should jump out?”
“Since I have children, I often take away and eat at home because I don’t want to bother other customers. I can eat peacefully too.”
“If my kid starts to make noise, I’ll feel guilty and I’ll eat quickly and head home.”
“Why not you try to understand others before you ask others to understand you.”
As many of us often dine out, we are certainly no stranger to the scene of crying children. Regardless, do you think we should opt to eat at home instead if we dislike the noise?
