A man believed to be attempting to rob a shophouse in Jalan Gelugor, Bandar Baru Klang, was beaten to death by its Bangladeshi residents.
The district police chief said that there was a Nepalese witness who was working at the hotel beside the building. The witness said the incident happened between 6.45am and 7am, when he saw a man trying to pry open the safety grill downstairs.
He continued on saying that within minutes, he could hear noises of people fighting on top of a voice screaming, “Someone is trying to rob us!”
“The 35-year-old alleged robber failed to escape after the group of Bangladeshis beat him to death,” he added.
He elaborated further that the police also found a knife, an adjustable plier and a long wooden bat at the scene. After further inspection, they also found a backpack believed to belong to the man, which contained his IC, driver’s license, ATM card, a Samsung mobile phone and tools to take drugs.
They also discovered a Gold Proton Saga at the alley behind the hotel which belongs to the man.
“A background check shows that the man previously already have 5 criminal charges which include burglary cases from 2014 to 2018 and a drug case in 2008,” he said.
Information obtained after the incident have lead to the apprehension of a Bangladeshi suspect, at about 4.45pm in KLIA, attempting to fled the country.
As reported by Sinar Harian, this is still an on-going investigation and the police are still looking for the rest of the tenants to help with the case.
