Aside from parents, teachers also play a huge role in shaping kids into who they are today. By creating a supportive and fun environment, teachers help kids become well-rounded individuals, ready to take on future challenges.
In a recent video shared by @sirnavin / @sirnavink, he shared an amusing moment where he asked his students what they aspire to be when they grow up.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
In the video, the teacher can be seen handing out graded papers and calling his students by name. Each time a student approaches, he asks them what they want to be when they grow up.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Navin, who is in his 20’s, teaches Addmaths and Maths at a private school in Damansara.
“I teach Addmaths and Maths, with Pendidikan Jasmani as my minor. Besides that, I also coach the school cricket team and currently serve as the deputy head of cocurriculars in the school,” he added.
“It’s okay if you haven’t figured it out”
In the video, some students can be heard answering Navin’s question about what they want to be when they grow up with responses like detective, cook, ballet teacher and event planner, while one student even admitted he hadn’t decided yet.
Navin explained that his curiosity about his students’ thoughts led him to ask about their future aspirations.
“I’m generally curious about what goes through my students’ minds. In class, we also engage in fun activities like general knowledge quizzes, play Geoguessr, and do Wordle.”
He teaches students between 13 to 18 year olds!
Navin expressed his relief that his students didn’t choose the typical professions like doctor, lawyer, or engineer that previous generations often default to when asked.
He concluded the interview with some advice, saying,
“Go out there and express yourselves. Study hard, but play even harder. Play like you’re in 1st place, but train like you’re in 2nd.”
