“It’s my duty” – M’sian Teacher Goes Out of His Way to Upgrade Classroom in Johor Using RM2K Bonus

One can’t deny the value that a teacher brings to the classroom. What often goes unnoticed is that teaching is just one role teachers fill in the course of a normal day.

In a recent viral story circulating online, a teacher known as @DarwinKamal went the extra mile to spruce up his classroom, using his own bonus money to make it happen.

In the post, he shared a series of pictures showcasing the transformation of the classroom at SK LKTP Air Tawar 4 in Johor. You could see the “before” and “after” pictures, showing the big improvements made to the space.

The caption of the post reads,

“Ever wondered where my 2K bonus disappeared to? Let me break it down for you. Here are some photos of my classroom before the makeover.”

“It is my duty as a teacher to provide my students with a comfortable environment”

Kamal disclosed that it took a week to complete the classroom renovation. He highlighted that the project wasn’t just his doing, but also involved parents, the cleaning staff of SKAT4, senior teachers who pitched in ideas, as well as the SKAT4 signatories and the PIBG.

He also mentioned that they settled on a theme that is simple and comfortable for him and his students.

In the thread, he continued to express his dedication to teaching, emphasising that being a teacher isn’t only about educating but it’s also about making a cozy, happy, and tidy space for his students.

“This is the result of my work even though it’s only been 3 months at this school! If given a task, I will do my best in the future,” he added.

 

The teacher’s initiative didn’t go unnoticed as netizens poured into the comment section to show their love and support for the teacher’s thoughtful gesture
