The satisfaction when thieves are caught red handed!
On January 27, Arvin parked his car at SS14, Subang Jaya to go to a nearby restaurant. When he returned to his car at around 9:10 pm, he realised his rear left window was gone, and so was his bag with valuable items in it.
In his post, he shared,
“[I] took a moment to digest this. Then went around to look for CCTV cameras but none was pointing at the direction of my car.”
So what does he do? He activates the “Find My Devices” function on his phone, locked all his other devices and started tracking down the robber.
“I got robbed at SS14, the devices were revealed to be somewhere in Sri Petaling.”
Without wasting time, Arvin rushed to the nearby police station to lodge a report. The police were ready to help. However, they asked Arvin to look for the thieves himself first as the thieves might spot the policemen.
The shown location brought Arvin to a restaurant in Sri Petaling, where he pretending to be looking for food to buy.
“Finally, I found the guy with my watch. To make sure it was mine, I approached closer to them but acted as if I was making an order near where they were sitting.”
When Arvin was certain, he immediately got out of the restaurant and called in the policemen. Here’s when the action started.
The thief, who was happily chatting with his friends had no idea what was coming. One of the policemen cuffed him on the spot and asked him if he had any partner in crime, to which the man said, “I did it all alone”.
All of this happened within an hour.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Arvin said that the policemen immediately brought the man back to the police station and if charged, he could be facing jail time of up to 6 months. Thanks to the quick action of PDRM, he managed to retrieve all his belongings.
“I retrieved my Macbook Pro, iPad and watch. These devices can be tracked as long as they’re charged.”
Arvin also told WORLD OF BUZZ that it was indeed a one-man job as the thief’s friends were not his accomplice.
“He was trying to sell my watch to his friends. They didn’t know about his mugging activities.”
The man also has 16 previous records of car break-ins, according to the police.
We’re glad that Arvin managed to retrieve all his stolen items, and major gratitude to PDRM for the efficient and quick action! Do keep in mind the belongings that you leave in your car.
