A single mother, who was injured after accidentally stepping into a gutter at a hawker centre in Penang, has returned a RM100 donation given to her by MCA Youth Deputy Chief, Tan Yang Pang, due to dissatisfaction over being used for political content.

According to a report by Oriental Daily, the woman, Vijayesri, returned the money via Berapit village chief, Lin Qixian (transliterated from Mandarin), and also asked him not to use her suffering for political hype.

This happened when Lin had gone to the hospital where Vijayesri was admitted, to visit her. That’s when she asked if he could return the money to Tan.

After giving Lin the RM100 cash, Lin transferred the amount back to Tan via an e-wallet transaction.

This happened before she was admitted to a hospital

Lin shared that Vijayesri felt helpless and angry for being used for political content, considering she had accepted the donation out of goodwill. This was before she was admitted to a hospital.

During that time, Tan had apparently also promised to bring medical personnel to see her and hyped this promise up in his video recording while attacking his political opponents.

However, he allegedly did not follow through on his promise.

“She, therefore, decided to return the money to show her position and dignity,” Lin said.

It turns out that it was Berapit ADUN, Heng Lee Lee, who visited the woman after Tan did, who then immediately arranged for medical personnel to visit her and take her to a hospital to treat her injuries.
