Food is essential to sustain life, and that’s why we eat to survive. Unfortunately, some people find it funny to sexualise eating when it’s merely something we do to keep ourselves full and alive.
Local actress and singer, Tiz Zaqyah recently revealed via her tweet and said that she is no stranger to being sexualised while eating. She was responding to another tweet that blamed those who relate eating and food to sexual acts.
“It’s so tiresome to see people sexualising food with bl*wj*b. When a girl is eating an ice cream, you’re thinking about sex.”
The tweet made Tiz take a trip down memory lane where she remembered receiving lewd comments when she was eating a banana in public, which she has stopped doing so as it was just too much for her.
“Until today, I don’t eat bananas because of you c*nts.”
To some, relating food or eating to wrong, inappropriate contexts may be a joke, but little did they know, it brings consequences to those who just want to enjoy their food in peace, regardless of where they are.
“Let’s normalise throwing the banana to their faces”
In the comment sections, many Malaysians found it relatable, especially those who were once victims of lewd comments when they were merely eating.
A netizen said that she had no choice but to tear the banana into small pieces, thanks to the eyes that are watching.
Another netizen said this is what happens when porn is being normalised and has become a joke.
“If it happens to me, I’ll throw the banana or ice cream to his face. Let’s normalize this.”
“I stopped eating bananas in public since my school days after someone said ‘I looked like a pro’.”
“Yes, it’s as if we’re guilty for eating ice cream in public.”
“Some guys love to watch even when you’re just eating ice cream. Eventually, I finished it by biting the cone.”
Another netizen said that her experience scarred her too much that she’s even afraid to eat a banana in front of her family members.

What may start off as a joke can be a nuisance or a trauma to others and truthfully, there’s nothing funny or cool about relating food to sex. Ladies, were you among the victims of dirty-minded people who find joy in making such jokes?
