The statue of David is considered as one of the most marvelous sculptures of all time because of how intricate it it.
It is a marble sculpture of a man in the nude and many people all over the world flock to Italy where it is located, to catch a glimpse of the masterpiece.
Our Malaysian artist, Elizabeth Tan is also into the arts and going to Italy to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the statue of David is on her bucket list.
It seems that on 16 November, she was able to cross off the 2 items from her list and she posted pictures on Instagram to commemorate the event.
As we had said prior, the statue of David is in the nude, which means that its genitals are showing. After Elizabeth posted a picture of her and the 17-foot sculpture, many netizens were quick to comment.
Some made childish jokes about birds while others commented on the size. A few netizens had also asked the artist to blur the sculpture’s genitals or to put an emoji over it.
“What bird is it?”
“Sis if you can, blur the picture.”
Elizabeth responded to the netizen and said that the statue is art.
The netizens were not having it and made fun of the artist saying that it is art. Others took it a notch higher by saying: “If you get sexually harassed then don’t make noise, accept it as art.”
No matter what a person’s opinion is, we believe that wishing harm or traumatic experiences on them is certainly not the way to go.
In your opinion, do you think Elizabeth needs to censor the statue of David’s genitals? Let us know in the comments.
