In a tragic turn of events, 2 siblings lost their lives while travelling to visit their late dad’s grave in Melaka on September 23rd (Monday) at 6:15 PM.

18-year-old Muhammad Amirul Hazlin and his 5-year-old sister, Nur Afiqah Sofea, were riding a motorcycle with their mom following closely behind on a different motorcycle as they headed to visit the grave of their late dad, who had sadly passed away just 10 months earlier.

As reported by Sinar Harian, the 2 siblings were pronounced dead by doctors at 7:40 PM and 12:30 AM on Tuesday while receiving treatment in the Red Zone of Melaka Hospital.

Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, the Chief of Melaka Tengah District Police, revealed that upon arriving at the scene, the victim, who was the motorcyclist involved, apparently did not notice a Roro garbage bin on the roadside before crashing into it.

The accident resulted in both victims sustaining severe injuries, prompting their urgent transfer to Melaka Hospital for further treatment in the emergency zone.

Christopher Patit shared that the victims’ bodies were taken to the Forensic Unit at Melaka Hospital, and a Pol 61 form has been filled out to find out the cause of death.

“The police have tracked down the owner of the Roro garbage can involved and found some independent witnesses who saw what happened. Right now, the case is being looked into under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.”
