With the ongoing inflation, prices of goods are NOT expected to go down anytime soon. This makes many consumers to think twice before spending, and it’s truly “wrath-invoking” if we spend on something that is not worth the price.
Just recently, on his TikTok account @boyngah, Faiz shared his disappointing experience after buying a viral and trending Steamed Bread, known as Roti Wap in Malay. Roti Wap comes in multiple flavours but Faiz got himself a set with Kaya flavour from a store in Malacca. Judging from the packaging, it looks like the generous Kaya filling is oozing out from the bread.
Each pack comes with 5 slices of Roti Wap, and it costed Faiz RM11. If the vendor is generous with the fillings, RM11 might be considered worthy to try something new. So, let’s see how generous the vendor is with the fillings.
In his TikTok clip, Faiz unpacked the trending steamed bread and to his disappointment, the Kaya filling were only spread on top of the bread. Each bread was already cut in half and there was a split in the center but Faiz revealed that there was nothing in the bread except for the spread on top.
Given its name, did the fillings inside the bread turn into an invisible gas of steam?
Does this also remind you of the viral thin slice of butter in toasts a few months back?
Jokes aside, Faiz was not happy with his purchase, saying that “he learnt his lesson”. Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Faiz said that it was his 1st time buying the steamed bread from the store.
“They just steamed the bread, spread some fillings on top, and charged us RM11 for this?”
However, he did not reveal the exact location and the name of the store.
Steamed bread with oxygen fillings?
In the meantime, netizens were shocked to see what Faiz has “gotten himself into”, and many agreed that the price he paid for the Roti Wap was not worth it.
“I bought this steamed bread before and I thought it was going to be different than others, but it tasted exactly the same like other bread.”
“Buy your own bread and Kaya, spread them yourself and won’t even cost you RM11.”
“My mom said buying a Pau is more worthy than getting a steamed bread. It’s cheaper.”
“Steamed bread with oxygen fillings.”

RM11 for 5 slices of steamed bread with only the spread on top. Do you consider this a “daylight robbery”, or do you think the price justifies the fillings?
