Precious creatures that are by far one of the top selections as pets in Malaysia, cats are known for their endearing personalities but fiercely curious behaviour. Many cat owners probably know that their kitties are not the biggest fans of water – but that isn’t always a problem if they don’t smell.
One Malaysian, however, provided his opinion in a TikTok video shared to the page @catqueen_oe. In the video, a Malaysian cat lover named LD explained why it is that cats still smell good even though they do not bathe frequently.
“Cats are not like other animals that have strong odours because they work to hide their scent from being hunted. Therefore, they lick their bodies multiple times a day to get rid of any odour,” said LD in the video.
Additionally, LD stated that cats’ liking towards natural sunlight also works to evaporate any water on the surface of their fur, thereby preventing any bacteria from arising.
After doing some sleuthing of our own, WORLD OF BUZZ discovered through a write-up by the Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital that cats indeed spend a third of their waking hours tidying their fur coats. This, in large part, is due to their self-preservation instincts that enable them to evade predators by keeping them as clean and scent-free as possible.
Receiving a wide response online, many cat owners alluded to this discovery as being valid, as their cats also smell good. A couple of users even went as far as to say that their cats specifically smell like baby powder.
“I once had a male cat who always smelled good even though he did not shower and always went wandering away from our home,” commented one user.
However, other users also took the opportunity to throw some jests in the comments section, adding that their cats unfortunately, still smell bad.
“My cat smells like farts but I still love him,” wrote one user.
