Some of us are blessed with great neighbours who would help us whenever necessary. However, the chances of getting a great neighbour is often as slim as winning the lottery.
A Facebook user recently took to the platform to share a story of their amazing neighbour who surprised her as when she opened her front gate, she noticed that her parcel was placed on top of the brick wall they share between their homes.
In a post by Asmawati, she wrote, “Residing in the house onto my left is an elderly Chinese couple. They’ve always helped me collect my parcels and would leave them on top of the brick wall we share.”
“There was once a runner who called me to inform me that my neighbour had collected my parcel for me, and he even sent me a photograph of my neighbour holding the parcel!”
She then told the runner that it’s fine and that her neighbour will pass the items to her.
“Could you imagine when I buy food for my cat and a pack would be about 8kg? They would still collect it and put it on top of the brick wall we share,” she explained.
Despite having told them countless times to leave the heavy parcels on top of the gate because she doesn’t want to see them get hurt, her neighbours insist on helping her.
They expressed concern that if it rains, her parcel will get wet and it may potentially damage the goods inside.
Asmawati shared that after 2-3 times of purchasing cat food online, she has since decided to just purchase from the physical stores itself as she felt guilty for letting them collect such a heavy parcel.
It has even gone beyond that and her neighbours even help her to collect her clothes on the drying rack when it rains.
“They are so clean. Their child and the partner is nice too and always greets me. Even if our neighbours are not Muslim, we always have to treat them nicely,” she concluded.
Kudos to her neighbours for going above and beyond to help her! We hope that this will inspire others to be nice to their neighbours.
