Controversial Malaysian celebrity preacher, 44-year-old Azman Syah Alias, more affectionately known as PU Azman, who is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence for sexually abusing a 17-year-old male student in 2022, is now actively sharing his religious knowledge with other inmates and prison personnel in jail.

This is according to his former lawyer, Mohamad Zahid Ahmad, who recently shared the current conditions of his ex-client in jail in a Facebook post and to Sinar Harian.

The legal professional added that PU Azman is doing well in prison and has memorised four juz or sections of the Qur’an while imprisoned.

Mohamad Zahid asserted,

“Every day, he (PU Azman) teaches other inmates and sometimes even shares his religious knowledge with the prison officers… He requests the public to pray for him, and currently, he has memorised four juz of the Qur’an.”

The lawyer further said that every time he visits his former client in jail, PU Azman requests that he bring books for him.

Mohamad Zahid asserted that PU Azman has accepted the fate that God set for him. Moreover, the lawyer believed that what the celebrity is going through is a test from God.

PU Azman was initially sentenced to 24 years in jail for two charges of sexually abusing a male teen, but the High Court allowed for the prison sentences to be run concurrently, hence he only has to undergo 12 years in jail. He was also sentenced to two strokes of the cane.
