The Malaysian International Humanitarian Organization (MHO) recently revealed that a politician, who is also a former deputy minister is the alleged mastermind of an international human trafficking syndicate based in Myanmar.
In a viral TikTok video by the organisation @mhomalaysia, its Secretary General, Datuk Hishamuddin Hashim alleged that the politician and her husband are both involved in a company, known as Dongmei Group linked to criminal activities in Myanmar.
“It is a company that has helped build a centre for scamming and human trafficking activities, one of which is known as KK Park in the city of Myawaddy, Myanmar,” Hishamuddin said.
The centre is reportedly heavily guarded by soldiers.
Recently, a video exposing the syndicate in Myanmar went viral on YouTube in Indonesia, highlighting that many Indonesian citizens have fallen victim to the syndicate, which is openly engaged in human trafficking activities.
The horrendous activities include the harvest of organs, murder, forced labour, and torture.
According to Hishammuddin, the government of the United States of America also acknowledged and has blacklisted the company and some other influential figures.
“The US has blacklisted major Chinese criminal figures and members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) who are also major investors in the industrial zone and gambling hub in Myawaddy.”
MHO also said they would be making a report regarding the matter to the Malaysian Corruption Prevention Commission (SPRM).
PDRM on the hunt for a “Datuk Seri”
In an update for the case shared via PDRM’s Facebook page, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said statements from 3 people have been taken, including from the said politician and her husband.
However, the police are still looking for another person with a “Datuk Seri” title to assist in the investigation.
Many victims are often conned into forced labour in Myanmar through job advertisements that promise lucrative pay, which eventually turn out to be scams.
@mhomalaysia MHO hadir ke SPRM Putrajaya bagi memohon untuk menyiasat seorang ahli politik di negara ini yang didakwa terbabit sindiket pemerdagangan manusia di Myanmar.
The investigation is being conducted under Section 12 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (Atipsom) Act 2007.
