Policemen arguably have very difficult tasks to execute. Aside from enforcing the law against wrongdoers who do not act in a proper manner, they also bear a responsibility towards helping any citizen who needs assistance. One Malaysian officer, however, is leading the way in showing just how the consummate policeman handles themselves with any individual they come across.

A Malaysian police officer, whose name is Corporal Shahrul and goes by the handle @mpv_shah on TikTok recently shared a delightful video of an interaction he had with a motorcyclist in Petaling Jaya. Doing his rounds at night, the officer came across a man who was steering his bike at the side of the road, instead of riding it.

Stopping by the man, Corporal Shahrul then realised that the motorcyclist was an old friend of his, whom he had not seen for a while. After going and speaking to him, the man revealed that he had run out of petrol, and was in the process of guiding his vehicle to the nearest gas station. Offering to help him, Corporal Shahrul told his friend to wheel the bike to the side of the road and wait for him momentarily.

Driving to the nearest petrol station himself, the officer filled an empty plastic bottle with petrol before driving back to his friend, before helping him syphon the juice into his motorcycle. Just like that, the bike was operating as usual once more.

Speaking to his old friend briefly, the motorcyclist explained to Corporal Shahrul how he had missed spending time together, as they were once close. Reciprocating the touching moment, Corporal Shahrul then told the motorcyclist that while they have grown up and went their separate ways, they are and will continue to be friends despite not seeing each other frequently.

Bidding one another goodbye, the motorcyclist headed on his way as the video concluded, as the duo made a promise to see each other once again.

“This was God’s will. For so long, I didn’t see my friend. Finally, I get to see the one I have missed. Before this, we help members of the public, but this time, there was a sadness to see that the person who needed help is actually your old friend,” wrote the officer in the caption of his post.

Moving many people who came across the video, multiple users praised Corporal Shahrul’s actions, not only in helping his friend, but a member of the public who genuinely needed assistance for a super inconvenient moment. In a delightful twist, the motorcyclist’s sister also discovered the TikTok clip, and thanked the officer for helping her brother.

How wonderful is the story God was written for us… to see a friend that we had lost contact with. Even I miss the friends who I don’t see anymore,” wrote one user.
