If a relationship involves a “monthly payment” to keep things going, it’s probably high time you re-evaluate the direction of the relationship.
Just recently, a Twitter user shared a screenshot of a TikTok caption video where a woman confessed about the relationship that she’s in, which involves quite a lot of money. The unknown Malaysian woman earns a monthly income of RM2,000 and with that amount, one should be able to survive if the money is managed properly, even if you’re in a relationship.
But the 1st thing she does every month upon receiving her salary is to pay her boyfriend RM500. No, she does not owe him anything because the money is simply to keep him in the relationship.
“I’m afraid he’ll leave me if I don’t give him RM500 every month.”
Her car loan is equivalent to the amount her BF receives every month, and that leaves her with RM1,000. But the commitment does not stop there.
“He applied for a personal loan on my name, so that’s another RM400 every month.”
Last but not least, her mother receives only an amount of RM50 monthly, so that leaves the woman with only RM550 for the remainder of the month, which she uses to get herself dinner. In her caption, she said that she’s grateful for having an understanding mom who has never made a fuss about her financial condition.
Unfortunately, her dating life doesn’t seem to be helping much because sometimes, she pays for her BF’s meal too when they’re dining out.
“This is not a man”
Many netizens, especially the woman were baffled by what they read and most of them urged the unlucky woman to bid farewell to the walking red flag.
A netizen said that the absence of a father figure may have led to her insecurities, saying, “Poor girl. I hope she wakes up immediately”.
“RM500 for BF and only RM50 for mom. That’s just great. This relationship is not going anywhere but Hell.”
“Kid, this isn’t a BF. This is a man who takes advantage of you financially.”
“It’s better to be single than to be living with a parasite. This is not a man. You should’ve given your mom more than RM50, and not Rm500 to the parasite. Don’t let anyone takes advantage of you.”
