They were thrown off their bikes

Muhammad Fauzy and his younger brother, Muhammad Naim, were riding separate motorcycles (a Yamaha NVX and a Yamaha Y15) from Tampin when the accident happened around 1 AM.

Melaka Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, said 33-year-old Fauzy died at the scene, while 30-year-old Naim is being treated at Melaka Hospital.

“Early investigations show the brothers were on their way to Muar when they crashed into a fallen tree branch lying across the road, which threw them off their bikes,” he said.

“There were no CCTV cameras”

Christopher Patit said Fauzy suffered severe injuries to his face and was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

“There were no CCTV cameras in the area, so we’re looking for independent witnesses to help with the investigation,” he said.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and both motorcycles have been sent to PUSPAKOM Rembia for inspection.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact Inspector Mohamad Khairul Sallehudein at 016-2643637 or head to the nearest police station.
