A recent video has got netizens fuming after a car was caught pointing a green laser at other vehicles on the road on 22 October (Wednesday).

One of the victims, Rasora, shared the dashcam footage on the social site Reddit, claiming in the caption that while they were at a traffic light, a car suddenly aimed a laser at their side mirror.

“The driver aimed a laser at my side mirror straight into my eyes”

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Rasora shared that the incident happened just outside a mall in Petaling Jaya at around 8 PM.

“A driver aimed a strong green laser at my side mirror straight into my eyes at a traffic light, then overtook me and tried to blind me again. I saw him do the same to other vehicles earlier,” they wrote in the post.

In the comments, when someone suggested Rasora go to the police station and show the video, they replied:

“I went to the police station, but they said there was nothing they could do since it’s not against any law. They even called the traffic police to check. So I just went home.”

“The driver’s action could cause permanent eye injury”

Upon being asked what course of action Rasora would like to see implemented, they stated that they wish for legal action to be taken against the driver.

“This is really dangerous and could cause permanent eye injury. Personally, I’d like to see a similar outcome to what happened to …” referring to the driver in Singapore who flashed laser lights at other motorists in 2021.

Previously, The Straits Times reported that a 52-year-old man in Singapore pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two weeks in jail after intentionally pointing a laser beam at other drivers on an expressway to force them to make way for his car.

He reportedly did this despite knowing it could temporarily blind others and potentially cause an accident.
