In romantic comedies, one of cutest scenes movie buffs can look forward to is the moment when the would-be lovers meet for the first time, and sometimes, you wish that it would happen to you as well – you know, meeting the love of your life in an unexpected place. For 24-year-old Nur Afilah Amir Rusdi it actually happened as she met her husband when she was crying her eyes out at Pavilion mall in Kuala Lumpur in December 2018.
The man, Adama Mohamed Camara, 26, is from Guinea, West Africa and was studying his Master’s degree at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin in Terengganu. When asked, he said that he was attracted by Fila’s beauty and personality. “What I like most about Fila is that she’s smart, kind and thoughtful. I have travelled to many places but I have never seen another woman as beautiful as her. I love everything about her,” he told the daily. As he should!
Fila, who is from Kampung Raja, Tunjang near Kubang Pasu, Jitra, Kedah said that Adama was the man of her dreams as he was kind, caring, smart and patient. In addition, he was also a religious and family-oriented man, which made her fall in love with him even more. After two months, Fila said she was touched when Adama invited her to go for a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. She said she had to decline his invitation and told Adama that she could not go with him as they were not married. This led to a discussion about marriage and the couple decided that since they love each other they should get married.
She called her mother and brought Adama home to meet her parents, who gave the couple their blessings. “Adama asked my father’s permission for my hand in marriage and he told him that as long as the paperwork’s ready he was agreeable. Since my father is very fierce and picky, as long as he agrees, I trust in his decision,” Fila said.
Although she has received some negative comments about their marriage, she said she doesn’t mind as anyone close to Adama would know that he is a good person from a good family. In fact, Adama’s father is educated, religious, and knows five languages!
The couple tied the knot at Fila’s hometown last Friday (April 26) in the presence of their friends and family. Adama’s friends were there as groomsmen while Fila had her bridesmaids as well.
This inspiring story just goes to show that love can transcend all sorts of boundaries! We wish the happy couple a great marriage!
