Being Asian, most of us did not experience outright expressions of love and affection from our parents. However, it does not mean that they don’t love us. If you pay close enough attention, our parents do plenty of things out of love for us, like cutting up fruits!
Recently, a Malaysian dad, Max, shared an endearing story on Facebook of how he loves and cares for his daughter.
Max was traveling back to Singapore through Larkin Sentral when he opened the gift his daughter gave him earlier. To his surprise, there were five pieces of curry potato pao that she had handmade for him!
“These days, my daughter is worried that I won’t have anything to eat when I travel back to Singapore. So, she has personally made curry potato paos for me to fill my stomach on the way back,” he wrote in his post.
Paos are not allowed in Singapore
However, what Max’s daughter didn’t know and what Max didn’t have the heart to tell her was that the paos probably would not make it past the Singapore customs.
“Sometimes, as a father, you don’t have the heart to tell them that we’re actually not allowed to bring paos into Singapore. But I didn’t tell my daughter this,” Max said.
However, he can’t just throw away the paos his daughter personally made for him! So, Max finished all five of the curry potato paos by himself at Larkin Sentral. It took him an hour and a half to finish everything.
“Kid, next time just make 2-3 paos and I’ll be full already,” he wrote.
“I opened the box and thought, ‘Wow!’ There’re five paos. It really surprised me.”
Regardless, Max thanked his daughter for thinking of him and told her that he loves her.
How sweet is that! It’s always the little things…
