This poor family has doesn’t have much time left to save their 19-month-old child. They’re going to need all the help they can get.

Maya Alisha Mohd Hasrol, a 19-month-old baby diagnosed with a narrow cardiac tract, only has 20 days left till she undergoes a heart surgery that will determine her survival at the National Heart Institute (IJN).

However, according to Harian Metro, Maya’s parents will have to bear an eye-popping RM 25,000 cost in order to ensure their baby gets the much-needed treatment.

33-year-old mother, Rozita Radzali, says her daughter was diagnosed with a narrow heart condition when she was just six months old.

“After Maya was born at home, she was taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) and was held there for over a month for treatment.”

“She was later transferred to IJN and had to undergo two surgeries to ensure that she recovered and grew up like any other baby.”

Rozita said that her poor baby had health problems even while she was pregnant with Maya Alisha. Aside from having no appetite, her daughter also requires formula milk to stay active. However, this puts an additional financial strain on the already hefty monetary burden experienced by the family of nine.

“My husband, Mohd Hasrol Hasan, 37, runs a car boot sale in Taman Kerang for about RM 100 a day. We have to support seven children (including Maya Alisha) that range from the ages of five months to 14 years old. Four of them are still in school.”

As Maya has to undergo her first surgery on 21st October, Rozita and her husband have been struggling to raise the required amount expected of them (RM 25,000). They’ve even applied for charity and have appealed to netizens on Facebook for donations.

Collectively, the desperate couple has received about RM 1,000 worth of public donations from kind Facebook users touched by Maya’s story. Nonetheless, they have a long way to go before reaching their targeted goal.

“I hope this amount will be sufficient for Maya to undergo the first surgery. Otherwise, I don’t know what her fate is.”

The struggling family was visited by Semambu state assemblyman, Lee Chean Chung, who said today (1st October 2019) that he was looking into the various ways the state could alleviate the financial burden of this family.

Lee says he will consult with the Crown’s Prince Parliament and NGOs to lend a hand to this family’s urgent situation.

“We will provide transportation for this family to seek treatment at IJN and also look into other donations that can be donated”.

Maya is still so young, and she has so much left to live for. If you wish to help this family in their current critical situation, you can donate to Rozita Radzali’s Maybank account at 156094414390 or contact her via the number 01111033943.

Hopefully, they manage to raise enough funds to save Maya.
