Zoos choose to bare the heavy responsibility of caring for the wellbeing of wild animals. This means that they must provide the animals with food and water, as well as a clean and spacious environment for them to roam.
Unfortunately, not all zoos meet this standard.
Masha Cat HQ took to their Facebook page to call out Zoo Melaka after noticing that their white tiger looked skinny and stressed.
They wrote, “Are there any of you who are willing to let animals be treated like this? Not getting enough to eat or not being fed at all? To those who go to zoos to visit the animals, please be aware of the condition of the animals in the zoo. I hope that this post ends up reaching the parties involved (the zoo or local authorities).”
“Please monitor and stop the cruelty towards the animals in the cages. Don’t let the animals starve. To Anwar Ibrahim’s Madani government, please provide enough allocations for the animals in all the zoos. And I request that the government take the issue of endangered forest habitats seriously.”
This isn’t the first time that Zoo Melaka has been in the spotlight for something negative as Ayer Keroh state assemblyperson, Kerk Chee Yee, had recently highlighted how RM72,000 was allocated for the zoo to purchase animals but the animals allegedly mysteriously went missing.
