From securing your sales to employing a trustable worker, it’s never easy to be an employer. On March 10, in her Facebook post, a Malaysian woman shared a couple of screenshots of a conversation between an employer and a recently-hired worker, who started some “dramas” just 3 days into the work.
Borrowing money & skipping work
In her post, Hannah said that the unnamed worker asked to borrow RM450 from his boss on his 3rd day of work, and even constantly skips work. In the first screenshot below, the worker asked his boss,
“I haven’t worked in a few days, are you not wondering if I’m in need of money?”
The employer responded and said,
“I’ve been asking you to come work every day. You refused to. If you need money, you’ll come to work, right?”
He also graciously told his worker, “I’ll pay you once every week. If you don’t have enough for food, I’ll lend you first”. The worker wasted no time and told his boss that he had less than RM1 with him, and asked if he could borrow some money from his boss.
“Teochew steamed fish for life”
In the second screenshot, the worker asked his boss, “What are we having for breakfast tomorrow? I’ve finished my cigarettes. I’m not working tomorrow, I’ll come on Monday instead.”
The boss then told his worker that if he was not present the next day, he can stop coming to work entirely. In just a minute, the worker agreed to come to work on the next day.
We guess the worker really had food in his mind all the time because he immediately told the boss what he wanted for lunch, which is fried food.
“The place for fried food that you brought me to the other day, I didn’t like it. I would have preferred steamed teochew fish.”
The employer told him, “work hard, and you can eat whatever you want.”
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Hannah said that the employer, who is her relative has always been considerate and nice towards his staff unless they have issues at work. Surprisingly, Hannah said that after the conversation, the worker has been performing well at work.
“As of now, he’s still working with us. He can’t clear his debt with us, so we’ll see what to do once he has paid his debt,” she explained.
Hannah also told WORLD OF BUZZ that they suspect the worker is not doing well mentally or was under the influence of alcohol when he was texting the employer.
“Someone without any issues wouldn’t have texted their boss in that manner,” she said.
Who says being a boss is always fun and easy? The more people you have under your wing, the more issues you’re bound to handle. Regardless, we hope that the worker will continue to perform well and stop causing issues. His boss may be gracious, but everyone has a limit.
