A dream wedding is pretty much a common topic for us to converse about but it may just not be the right time for students who are just about to finish high school.
Recently, the question about “dream wedding” was allegedly revealed to be asked as an SPM oral question this year, causing most of the people to be displeased with the kind of question posed to the student. Malaysian astronaut, Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor has taken to his Facebook page to express his take on the “dream wedding” question asked in the examination.
“Dream wedding for the discussion among 17-year-old students? There are still other trending topics that can be discussed to test the intelligence of their minds,” Dr Sheikh said.
He then proceed by giving a few examples that could’ve been the topics of discussion for the SPM oral examination, such as:
- The Covid-19 pandemic
- The effectiveness of online learning
- The pros and cons of using the gadgets
“This is so disappointing and the question is so irrelevant,” he expressed.
It’s already in the syllabus
While most of the people raise the necessity of the question, some people in the comment sections have come forward to clarify the situation and remind the others to not jump to conclusions.
“The theme of art and culture has always been in the textbook. The students are asked to answer with their own experience based on what they have seen and what they have known through the reading. It’s all about the culture in the society.”
1 netizen revealed that it was only part of the 4 questions asked and not the main question.
“Candidates were given a passage to read and answer within 3-5 minutes. Ironically, most of the candidates provided brilliant answers, at least better than the netizens here who know nothing.”
Do you think they could’ve come up with better questions?
