M’sian Arrested for Using a Parang to Vandalise Traffic Lights in Broad Daylight at Port Dickson

A recent video shared by @update11111 that has been making rounds online shows a man vandalising a traffic light in Port Dickson.

In response, the Port Dickson District Police released a statement on their Facebook page after being alerted to the 33-second clip, which captures the local man damaging the traffic light cover using a machete.

He was vandalising multiple traffic light covers

The statement says the incident happened on October 20th at 2:15 PM at a traffic light intersection from Kampung Arab, Shell Gate, heading to Kampung Gelam, Port Dickson, NSDK.

Acting on information received, the Criminal Investigation Division of the Port Dickson Police arrested the suspect the same day at approximately 4:45 PM in a hut near Seaview Beach, Port Dickson.

The suspect is unemployed with prior criminal records

The suspect, a 39-year-old man who’s unemployed and has 2 previous criminal records, tested negative for drugs. The police also took the weapon, vehicle, and clothes he used during the incident.

He is scheduled to appear in the Port Dickson Magistrate’s Court for a remand hearing tomorrow. The case is currently being investigated under Section 427 of the Criminal Code and Section 6(1) of the Dangerous Corrosive Substances and Explosive Weapons Act (ABKLSB) 1958.

Authorities are advising the public not to spread this issue online, as it could cause unnecessary concern among others.
