In her viral Facebook post, a Malaysian woman, Vicky Liang recently shared a shocking encounter with a man who picked her curry leaves that she planted just outside her house in Klang. In usual circumstances, Vicky usually lets her neighbours pick the curry leaves themselves after getting her permission.

On Wednesday night (July 24), however, Vicky was shocked to see the man picking large BRANCHES of curry leaves from her tree. To clarify, the man did seek permission from Vicky’s son before he picked the curry leaves, but none of them expected the man to take that much.

When Vicky came out to check on her tree, only empty branches and a few strips of curry leaves were left.

“He had the audacity to tell me that he left me some curry leaves on the tree,” Vicky said in her post.

She charged the man RM10 for the curry leaves

Vicky then asked the man to pay her RM10 for the curry leaves he took, to which the man asked for a RM5 discount because he felt the price was too much.

“If you think this is too much, then don’t come here next time.”

Growing curry leaves is NOT an easy process. According to Gardener’s Path, it can take up to 2 years before you can start harvesting the leaves, and judging from Vicky’s plant, it looks like she spent more than 2 years growing that much.

In a conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Vicky said the man initially insisted on paying only RM5. He eventually had no choice but to pay the amount Vicky wanted.

“He only had RM10 with him and he asked me for a balance of RM5. I told him the curry leaves were too much for RM5, so I insisted and he paid me RM10.”

Vicky also told WORLD OF BUZZ that she felt the man was charged much lower than the market price.

“I went to the market today (July 25) and saw the price for curry leaves. It was RM10 for 1KG. I charged him too little,” Vicky sighed.

It was apparently not the man’s “1st rodeo” in the area. During the confrontation, Vicky told the man to go to other houses to pick the curry leaves, to which the man said,

“You mean that house at the end of the street? I’ve done that the other day.”

When asked if the man was going to sell what he “harvested”, Vicky told WORLD OF BUZZ that she was unsure about that.

Would you charge the man for the amount of curry leaves he took, or would you ask him to put them down and leave?
