Controversial Datuk Noruliman A Rahman or better known as Boy Iman has made headlines again after posting about his alleged academic achievement on social media. In a now-deleted post, the 38-year-old actor had claimed that he was studying in University of Malaya (UM) and pursuing his PhD in business administration there.
He posted a photo of what looks like a student’s ID on top of a UM thesis. The post was accompanied with the hashtags “Doctor of Philosophy”, “by research”, and “business administration” on Instagram. He wrote that the photo was a “present” for those people who gossiped about him and for himself as his birthday was on April 2.
However, it looks like it may have been a fake card because not long after that, UM released a statement on their Facebook page, denying that Boy Iman was a student there. Oops! In the statement, UM said that they checked the status of Boy Iman as a candidate for a PhD course in Business Administration (by research).
They said, “UM wishes to clarify that we have checked and confirmed that Noruliman A Rahman is not registered as a PhD candidate in UM.” Berita Harian reported that UM also said that the student ID posted by Boy Iman is fake as their student IDs do not look like that.
UM explained that their student IDs would include a photo, name, student number and the serial number for the field they were taking. They said that a legit UM student ID would never reveal the name of the field or course of the student especially on a PhD level.
Boy Iman deleted the post not long after UM released the statement but according to Utusan, he said that the public should wait for his convocation day. He also apologised in his Instagram for uploading the post and said that time will tell the truth.
Perhaps he is really planning to get a PhD soon?
