Nowadays, getting a part-time job is what students often do during semester or term breaks as they get to earn a little extra on top of what they get from their parents. Working at a young age also helps them to be independent and responsible, which is why many parents encourage their children to find a part-time job whenever they’re free.
This was probably why a mother from Tai Chung, Taiwan, was encouraging her 15-year-old daughter to find a job during her summer vacation. Identified by her surname, Yan, she even helped her daughter to look for jobs, but unfortunately, the daughter was reluctant to do so.
Instead, the daughter got angry at her 36-year-old mother and got into a heated argument with her which soon turned into a physical fight on 24th July. The girl took a watermelon knife and slashed her own mother, reported ET Today.
Yan feared for her life and immediately got out of the house and sought help at a nearby motorcycle shop. The shop owner had to wrestle with the daughter in order to get the weapon out of her hand and called the police.
The knife slash had caused Yan to bleed profusely, but she fortunately was able to remain conscious all the way to Tung’s Taichung Metro Harbor Hospital where she was immediately wheeled into an operating theatre.
Yan sustained injuries mostly on the left side of her body including the back of her neck, shoulder, elbow and hip. Some of the slashes were cut to the bone, with the longest one measuring 10cm. The victim subsequently received a blood transfusion and is now in stable condition.
When the girl was detained for questioning, she seemed impassive about the whole situation. She will be charged with attempted murder in juvenile court.
Oh no! Hopefully the mother will be able to recover well from her injuries.
