The City Government of South Jakarta collaborated with The National Board of Zakat for the Republic of Indonesia (BAZNAS) to open a free service lasting only a day (13/04/23) for tattoo removals at Darul Jannah Mosque.
The event was officiated by the Deputy Mayor of South Jakarta Administration, Edi Sumantri.

Interestingly, this particular free tattoo removal service has been running for 3 years already according to Saad Suharto Amjad, the Deputy Leader of Area 2 Distribution and Application of BAZNAS (BAZIS).
Mr Saad Suharto says that in the year 2021, there were 550 people who got their tattoos removed for free while 2022 saw 756 beneficiaries.
Their target of beneficiaries in 2023 is 1,500 people so there will be more tattoo removal services to be held this year.
“For tattoo removal activity here at Darul Jannah Mosque, there are about 110 people already registered,” he said.

Mr Saad says that the service is prioritised for those residing in Jakarta with no prior history of diabetes, skin diseases or allergies that may disrupt the tattoo removal process.
The certified paramedics at the mosque screens all patients before the process.
