The upside-down Jalur Gemilang at a Chinese primary school in Port Dickson made headlines, and the Ministry of Education (MOE) has acknowledged the serious matter.
MOE will take strict action against the SJKC, following the upside down Jalur Gemilang incident.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek stated that her party was awaiting the full report, and action would be taken based on the results of the investigation. She added that the matter regarding the Malaysian flag has been warned several times, especially regarding its sensitivity.
“I always remind others to approach the Jalur Gemilang with sensitivity, responsibility, and commitment — especially as we head toward National Day. Mistakes like this should never happen,” Fadlina said during a press conference yesterday (August 3) in Kelantan.

The management of the school, however, had publicly apologised following the incident at its premises last Friday (August 1).
In a joint statement, the Board of Governors, Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG), and school administration expressed regret over the incident, which was described as negligence. According to the statement, the incident occurred on the evening of August 1 when a school employee put up the flags before the end of working hours, but did not realise one of the flags was hoisted upside down.
The school was informed about the matter around 5 PM and immediately took action to correct it. This was also not the first blunder involving the Malaysian flag this year, with one Jalur Gemilang spotted without a crescent, while another was spotted in the MOE’s SPM report with an incorrect star. Both blunders were AI-generated.
