Potholes not only damage your car but also pose a danger to road users, in which accidents may happen when one is trying to avoid the potholes. In India, however, a “miracle” happened thanks to the damaged road.
In a rare circumstance, a man who was pronounced dead “came back to life” after the ambulance that was transporting his body hit a deep pothole, “shaking” the man away from the dead. In what is usually a trouble to most road users, the pothole was a miracle in disguise for the 80-year-old man.
Darshan Singh Brar was diagnosed with a severe chest infection, which also took a toll on his pre-existing heart condition, and despite doctors’ best efforts, he was pronounced dead after 4 days on a ventilator.
“My brother in Patiala informed us around 9 am on Thursday about our grandfather’s death, and he was getting him to Nising (roughly 100 km away) in an ambulance for his last rites,” Darshan’s grandson told NDTV.
A tent had been set up, and food and the wood for the cremation had been prepared. Little did they know the last rites were not going to take place.
Near Dhand, a village in Haryana’s Kaithal district, the car hit a deep pothole, and moments later, Balwan’s brother, who was watching over his grandfather’s body, saw the 80-year-old man move his hand. To be sure, he checked for a pulse, and he could sense it.
He immediately instructed the driver to head to the hospital, where Darshan is still receiving treatment.
Was it a miracle in disguise? Regardless, this is not an excuse for the authorities to leave the potholes as they are.
