Now that a second round of the Movement Control Order (MCO) will soon begin, we can only assume that people have learned from their previous MCO and have stopped panicking, right?

Wrong.

The We are Malaysians Facebook page took to their profile to showcase empty supermarket aisles as people are still panic buying and overstocking on groceries and other essentials.

Panic 1 1

Panic 2 1

This is truly a saddening sight as the general public has been informed time and time again that food sources are plentiful and that there is no need to overbuy for the sake of stocking up.

Overbuying groceries makes it difficult for everyone to get what they need and it contributes to food waste if you do not finish or use what you’ve purchased in excess.

Panic 3 1

Thankfully, Malaysians have quite the sense of humour over the second wave of panic buying, sharing that those who overbought have helped clear old and expiring stock.

Panic 6

Panic 7

For those who have overbought, we genuinely hope that you actually use, eat and finish what you’ve stocked up, as if you don’t, you’ll be wasting food and other items that could have been useful to others.

What do you think about this? Let us know in the comment section.
