Resignation or retirement should be a moment of celebration not only for a new beginning but also for the happy moments and memories created at the place. For an 87-year-old retiree at a MacDonald’s restaurant in Singapore, his employers made sure the senior citizen had a farewell party to remember.
On November 1, one of McD’s employees, Afiq took to his TikTok account to share a heartwarming event where the 87-year-old retiree had the moment of his life when his employers and colleagues threw a farewell party for him. At the beginning of the video, the senior citizen is heard thanking everyone for their efforts in making the party possible.
Others then joined in to take pictures with the retiree and wish him well for his future.
“Get enough rest, uncle, and take care of yourself,” one of the staff members of McD’s told the uncle.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Afiq said that the uncle was only with the team for a short 5 months. The duration of his employment, however, did not matter and the farewell party was still a go.
“We’re all humans, and it saddens us to see someone at his age is still working hard to earn himself some money,” Afiq said.
Despite his short duration of employment, Afiq said that McDonald’s has always treated its staff members like family as they have a lot of moments of celebrations together.
“We all celebrate birthdays, Father’s Day, and Mother’s Day together.”
Afiq also told WORLD OF BUZZ that it is common for the elderly in Singapore to still be a part of the working society as some of them are not used to staying at home without doing anything.
“They might even fall sick if they stay at home too much, so they maintain the active lifestyle by continue working,” he added.

@afiqraffali Semoga sihat selalu uncle ?♂️
A grand farewell party for your resignation and retirement is not a luxury that everyone has. We hope the uncle enjoyed his time there and hopefully, he’ll stay healthy and happy after his retirement. Fellow employers, how do you usually give a proper send-off to your employees before they leave?
