It’s been more than 2 years ever since we started wearing masks due to the pandemic.

As many countries believe that Covid-19 is not as severe anymore, governments loosened up the mask mandates.

Khairy Jamaluddin, the health minister of Malaysia just announced today (7 September) in a press conference that masks are now optional indoors, effective immediately. But, it is up to the premise owners if they want to continue the face masking rule on their premises.

However, face masks are still compulsory in certain places such as healthcare facilities and public transport. Positive cases and anyone with symptoms are required to wear masks as well.

Other than that, the ministry of health recommends everyone, especially those who are symptomatic and high risk to mask up in crowded and poorly ventilated areas.

The ministry encourages everyone to mask up when possible as it is proven that masks can help to lessen the spread of diseases. They also urged the public to continue sanitary practices such as keeping our hands clean.

Stay tuned for more updates.
