Apart from our food, it is said that we Malaysians are well known for our hospitality. And it would seem that people agree with that notion as Malaysia Airlines has recently snagged the Best Airline In Asia Award at the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association  (PATWA) International Travel Awards at ITB Berlin, the world’s largest travel and trade fair. The PATWA International Travel Awards are some of the most prestigious awards in the travel trade since their inception 18 years ago in 1999.

The New Straits Times reports that a secret jury of PATWA members, officials, and mystery travels judge the shortlisted nominees that meet the discerning criteria. The candidates are reportedly evaluated based on pre-set standards and are subjected to extensive audits.

Malaysia Airlines’ Group CEO Ahmad Luqman B. Mohd Azmi received the award.

Malaysia Airlines chief executive officer Izham Ismail also shared that the award recognised several positive developments MAS had initiated over the previous two years, including new aircraft, products, and digital innovations.

“It is a testament to our commitment to offering passengers a fantastic experience both in the air and on the ground,” Izham said.

“We are enormously proud to accept the Best Airline in Asia Award from Patwa. I dedicate it to Malaysia Airlines’ employees who focus on delivering a world-class travel experience for our passengers every day,” he added.

To show their gratitude to their loyal customers, Malaysia Airlines is offering a 25% off discount on selected flights to selected destinations like Hong Kong and Sydney. Better be quick though, because this promo is ending at 12am on 12 March, for a travel period from now until 31 May 2019.

We’d like to wish Malaysia Airlines our hearty congratulations! What do you think of MAS receiving this award? Tell us in the comments!
