Being stuck in a confined space can be a terrifying experience. It’s hard to stay calm, especially when panic sets in. Unfortunately, this kind of nightmare can happen to anyone.

In a recent video shared by @zr.woon, her sister is seen having a frightening experience after finding herself trapped inside an apartment lift in Kuala Lumpur.

The lift closed on her before she could get out

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Zira shared that her sister (Kina) had finished work early and decided to pick up Zira’s son, Iman, from preschool, which is located just below their apartment.

However, when Kina and Iman reached their floor, he managed to get out of the lift, but before she could follow, the doors suddenly closed, trapping her inside.

She tried stopping the door from closing with a food container

Zira went on to explain that, since Kina was holding a food container, she tried to use it to prevent the lift doors from closing, but the sensor appeared to be malfunctioning.

“The doors wouldn’t open, and the container got jammed with Kina’s pinky finger. In her panic, she decided to call me.”

Luckily, Zira had just gotten off work and was about 10 to 15 minutes away from home. She advised Kina to stay calm and try to sit still.

In the video, the 3-year-old can also be seen trying to get help but unfortunately, he couldn’t find anyone.

Help didn’t come despite pressing the emergency bell button for more than 5 minutes

Zira shared that when she arrived at the block, she instructed Kina to press the emergency bell. Despite pressing it for over 5 minutes straight, no one answered, even though there was a food stall just downstairs.

“I went up to the 8th floor, hugged Iman, and calmed him down as he was crying. At that point, I decided to call 999 because I couldn’t think of any other solution and was too flustered to contact the building management.”

She then explained that after nearly an hour, a management staff came after the fire brigade arrived. She claims that the staff did not take any action despite admitting to hearing the bell.

“As a lesson, don’t try to stop the lift using your hands or feet.”
