The suspect has since been arrested

In a recent development, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) arrested the 30-year-old suspect at a house on Jalan Tok Raja, Kampung Gong Tok Tor, Jertih, at 7:20 AM yesterday (27 November).

According to Harian Metro, Besut District Police Chief Superintendent Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said the arrest came after a police report of a theft at the mosque at 8:27 PM on 25 November (Tuesday) involving two female victims during the Isyak prayer.

“The complainant reviewed CCTV footage and saw a man enter the women’s prayer area before fleeing with the bags. The suspect’s image also went viral on social media, and quick action by the Criminal Investigation Division of Besut IPD led to his arrest,” he said, as reported by Sinar Harian.

During questioning, the suspect admitted his involvement in the incident and also confessed to another theft in Jertih (Report Jertih: 4188/25), which is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code.

The suspect tested positive for drugs

Azamuddin added that a urine test on the suspect showed he tested positive for methamphetamine.

“The police have also seized several items believed to be linked to the theft, including a green T-shirt, a pair of black pants, four books, two small bags, keys, a tasbih, and a small zippered bag.”

He also reminded the public not to speculate or spread false information that could affect the investigation. You can watch the full video down below:
