It is now durian season, and almost all Malaysians know some of the best durians, which can be found in Raub, Pahang.
Recently, a young man was caught trying to steal durians from an orchard.
On 17 July, Mr Chai, 29, who rents a durian orchard, was informed by his workers that someone was stealing durians.
After rushing over, Chai found the thief with 3 durians on the ground, which had not been put into the basket yet, reported Sin Chew Daily.
Chai and his friend moved quickly to catch the thief and tied his hands behind him. After that, they hung a durian on his neck and made a video.
“I rented this orchard to run a business and I have suspected that people were stealing my durians but I had no proof before this,” said Chai.
It turns out that the thief was a 25-year-old man from the next town, Benta. Chai and his friend brought the thief to the Tranum police station to let the authorities handle this case.
However, the father of the 25-year-old man requested a peaceful resolution. Under the advice of the police, Chai was compensated RM10,000 by the thief’s father.
The Raub district police chief has confirmed this incident and said that no investigation papers were opened as the matter was resolved privately.
We hope the thief has learned that stealing is never a good thing.
