So, wearing a mask properly in public places isn’t the only face mask etiquette out there.

There is also the question of how to handle your face mask while eating out.

Jeff Ng took to the Setapak 讲饮讲食 吹水站 Facebook group to showcase a man eating at a mamak restaurant in Wangsa Maju. While eating, the man decided to place his face mask in the cutlery holder on his table.

What makes this disgusting as that once the man finishes his food, picks up his mask and leaves, the next person to sit at that table will probably use the cutlery that came into contact with the mask, to eat.

The World Health Organisation once shared that, “When someone who has the Covid-19 virus coughs or exhales, they release droplets of infected fluid. Most of these droplets fall on nearby surfaces and objects – such as desks, tables or telephones. People could catch the Covid-19 virus by touching contaminated surfaces or objects and then touching their eyes, nose or mouth.”

Hence, by putting your mask in the cutlery holder, wouldn’t you be heightening the risk for others who eat there after you?

Please ensure to put your mask away properly while eating in restaurants by placing them in a small paper bag, plastic bag, ziplock bag, mesh bag, your handbag or even your pocket to prevent it from infecting others through surface contact.

We genuinely hope that the staff of the mamak thoroughly cleaned the forks and spoons for the next customers.
