1 harsh truth that we have to accept is that no place is safe. All that we can do is to do our best to be alert to our surroundings.

In an X post by @zaraazameen, a Malaysian man was recently robbed when he was jogging in the morning at 6 am. As if a robbery wasn’t bad enough, the man was also severely injured after the thief slashed him multiple times with a machete. The man was injured on his hands and a huge stain of blood was seen on his shirt.

The incident was said to have happened at Shah Alam Section 27 recently, and the X user shared the incident in the hope of spreading awareness to everyone around the area, especially ladies who are alone. Zara suggested women jog in the guarded residential area, where it is safer and no outsiders will be allowed.

“You might want to jog after the sunrise when it’s brighter and people are out for work. I think it’s safer.”

The WhatsApp conversation has since circulated on social media and based on the information, the robber is believed to be in his 40s.

In the meantime, PDRM in Shah Alam has received reports regarding the matter and they are currently investigating it. According to the Chief Police of Shah Alam, the robber rode a motorcycle approached the victim with a machete, and grabbed the victim’s bag away.

“The victim, however, tried to fight back and got injured in the process. He was sent to Hospital Shah Alam for treatment.”

At the time being, PDRM is on the hunt for the suspect.

Theft can happen anywhere at any time. It’s even scarier when the perpetrators carry weapons and in such circumstances, do not try to fight back. If your neighborhood happens to be a hotspot for criminal activities, do report it to the police.
