During a domestic flight in India, a passenger found himself trapped in the lavatory for the entire duration of the journey due to a malfunctioning door. The incident occurred on a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru.

According to The Indian Express, the man attempted to use the toilet shortly after takeoff, only to face an unexpected and distressing one hour and 45-minute ordeal. The incident occurred aboard Flight SG-268, departing from Mumbai airport at 2 am on Tuesday.

Shortly after takeoff, a passenger seated at 14D went to the restroom but encountered difficulty exiting as the door refused to open, according to sources. Despite efforts from the crew and fellow passengers to assist in opening the door from the outside, their attempts proved unsuccessful.

The crew of the flight reportedly also communicated with the passenger stuck in the lavatory with the help of a note slipped under the door.

The passenger received a request to “remain calm” as their efforts to unlock the door proved futile. The note indicated that the aircraft was in the process of preparing for “landing in a few minutes,” urging them to close the restroom lid and take a seat.

Upon the plane’s arrival in Bengaluru at approximately 3:42 am, engineers boarded and forcibly opened the door, successfully rescuing the passenger.
