Over the weekend (June 2018), a video went viral on social media depicting a hooligan holding a stick and threatening a Rela officer at Jonker Street, Melaka.

Based on the 4-minute video clip, a black Subaru XV driver can be seen driving against traffic on a one-way street and the on-duty Rela officer then told him not to do so.

For some unknown reason, this agitated the driver wearing a yellow T-shirt decided to lash out at the officer. Dude…

The officer then walked away from the car to avoid the matter from getting out of hand but the man was not done. He proceeded to grab a stick in his car and caught up with the officer, seeking for more beef.

The arrogant man then hurled vulgar words, brandished the stick at the officer to intimidate him, and showed his middle finger at the officer’s face. He even fearlessly challenged the officer to take down his number plate!

Here’s the full video.

This video spread like wildfire on social media and netizens were disgusted by the man’s behaviour. Many urged the police to look into this case since the man intimidated the Rela officer with a stick. Others praised the officer for keeping calm despite being challenged and provoked.

“Kudos to the Rela officer who exercised professionalism. The officer had his hands behind him all or most of the time. Meanwhile, the driver deserves to be charged and locked up as a fine is not enough to teach him a lesson,” a netizen said.

This kind of barbaric behaviour has no place in Malaysia. We hope the police can track him down and invite him for a short stay in the lock-up.
