A Malaysian man recently walked into a hair salon in Bukit Jalil without an appointment and requested both a haircut and hair colouring services.
Like all patrons at the salon, he was asked to complete a basic information form. The salon maintains this protocol for every guest to track service records and ensure they can contact customers who may have accidentally left belongings behind. The man filled out the form and provided a phone number; at the time, nothing appeared unusual.

The disappearing act
At approximately 7:45 PM, shortly after the hair dye had been applied, the man informed the staff that he needed to step outside to retrieve something. The owner assumed he might be working nearby and simply needed to grab an item quickly. Although there was a brief moment of hesitation, the man had left his bag on the table, which made the situation seem credible.
The man “left temporarily” but never returned. Around thirty minutes later, the hair colouring timer rang with no sign of the customer. The staff attempted to call the number written on his record card to remind him it was time to rinse his hair, only to discover that the contact number was unreachable.
A bag of trinkets
Realising something was amiss, the staff inspected the bag he had left behind.
“Unfortunately, it contained no identification or wallet, only a few biscuits, a lipstick, and an empty G-Shock watch box,” the owner shared in a Facebook post.

The salon has been operating for four years, and the owner has taken several precautions when selecting the location. She had specifically chosen a unit with a private restroom to prevent scenarios where customers might disappear after claiming they needed to use a public toilet.
“The entrance is also secured with an electronic lock to create a safer environment and reduce the risk of scams,” the owner noted.

Despite these measures, the salon still fell victim to this incident. For the owner, it was a disheartening reminder that even with strict precautions, trust can still be exploited.
“I’m so tired. If you see this post, please help me to share,” the post added
